Card seven · Check the people and the pharmacy

Does a polished website prove legitimate care?

No. Design is easy to copy. Public licence records are harder to fake.

Short answer

State medical boards hold the public licence and discipline records for physicians.

State pharmacy boards hold pharmacy licence records, and the FDA provides a route to each state's search.

A short legitimacy check

  • Whichever state you are actually sitting in during the appointment, the clinician has to hold a licence there, or some other legal authority to practise there.
  • A fixed tick-box form, with no one able to ask you follow-up questions, is not a proper medical assessment under the guidance state medical boards follow for online care.
  • The service needs to name the pharmacy that will make and send the medicine.
  • Calling a compounded medicine FDA-approved is simply untrue.

What a real visit can feel like

Expect questions that can change the plan. Leave room to ask your own questions. If the online questions are not enough, a careful service may send you for an in-person exam or a lab test. That is a sign of good care, not a failure.

Keep this line

Write down the clinician's name, the pharmacy's name and the state where each is licensed.
